Colour Palette

In my never ending quest to find a way to elaborate on my Colour Palette series of posts I came across photos of Lake Retba in Senegal. I was immediately enamored by the bubble gum color of the lake and right then and there it hit me. I have decided to start using natural phenomena as my inspiration for this series.

The pink hue of Lake Retba is due to the high salt content, more than the dead sea, which supports the growth of a red pigmented microorganism that turns the lake pink. The intensity of the color is dependent on the weather.
